Addis Continental Institute of Public Health has been providing MPH in Monitoring and Evaluation Program with Mekelle University since 2013.The institute trained a total 51 students in this program in two batches.A total of 47 students, who successfully defended their thesis in 2014 & 2015 academic year, graduated from this program. The graduating class also celebrated their graduation at Addis Continental Institute of Public Health main campus on October 4, 2015.On this occasion ACIPH Director Prof. Yemane Berhane,Dr. Belete Assefa from Mekele University, the institute's staff and graduate families were present.
ACIPH has successfully conducted an 8 days training on Monitoring and evaluation for Addis Ababa Regional Health bureau(AAHRB) staff starting from September 21st, 2015. The goal of the training was to strengthen the capacity of participants to conduct M&E related activities.
The primary objective of this workshop was to describe the basic concepts and practical approaches for performance monitoring and evaluation for health programs, implement tools and techniques used specifically to HIV AND AIDS programs and understand how to implement M&E plans in a way that produces high quality data that may inform policy and program decision making.
Sixteen participants; eight from different sub-city health offices and eight from AARHB, gained concrete experience in designing monitoring and evaluation plans through practical exercises, case studies, and working in small groups throughout the workshop. The participants worked in groups of three to develop and present an M&E plan for a selected health program on the final day of the workshop. This was especially important to them as it gave them a glimpse of what the actual experience of developing an M&E plan.
