Addis continental Institute of Public Health has been collaborating on various research training initiatives with the MIRT program at the University of Washington (Seattle, Washington) since its inception. This program has helped in undertaking public health relevant researches and at the same time training students from ACIPH and University of Washington. Each year students come to our Institution for short summer research training. During their stay they get plenty of opportunities to learn doing research through mentorship sessions and interacting with the Institute staff. This year's MIRT 2010 Fellows were Wint Wai , Alvin Tran, and RJ Dhami. Their research training was based on "The Metabolic Syndrome" and "Identifying Cardiovascular Disease Risks among Working Ethiopian Adults."
The Bahirdar campus is going greener. This year over 1500 tree seedlings were planted in collaboration with the city administration. The initiative is to contribute to the protection of the environment and to make the surrounding area more beautiful. The ACIPH community is proud of the Bahirdar branch staff who made this project successful.
The Bahirdar campus was visited by the Director of MEASURE‐Evaluation, Dr. Sian Curtis. She gave state-of-the-art lecture for joint MPH students on the recent theories and practices of monitoring and evaluation. She also informed the audience what Measure‐Evaluation is doing in Ethiopia and around the world.
