ACIPH’s Strengthening Malaria Monitoring and Evaluation Systems (SMMES) of Ethiopia in collaboration with Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) has organized a one day consultative meeting of Ethiopian Malaria Research Network Members, on January 18, 2016 at ACIPH’s meeting hall in Addis Ababa. The purpose of the meeting was to review and endorse the malaria research network bylaw. There were 25 participants delegated from Federal Ministry of Health, Regional Health Bureau, Universities, Research Institutes and Non-Governmental Organizations working on malaria. The participants reviewed the by-law thoroughly and have provided invaluable comments. The relevant comments will be accommodated in the by-law and will be disseminated to the network members as an endorsed comment. EPHI is the chair of the Ethiopian Malaria Research Network while ACIPH is the current secretary.
Apposite decision can be made only on the basis of quality data. Quality data can be generated and analyzed only in the presence of competent data personnel at all level. Cognizant of this fact,ACIPH through its SMMES project organized a 5 days training on data quality and analysis for primary health care unit data personnel. The training was conducted from October 5 - 9, 2015 at Addis Continental Training and Research center in Bahir Dar. Twenty three participants who come from different health centers attended the training. It is believed that the training will improve the quality of data generated at primary health centers and the capacity of the primary health care units to analyze their own data and use it for decision making
