Addis Continental Institute of Public Health (ACIPH) in collaboration with Federal Ministry of Health (FMoH) and the Harvard Chan School of Public organized a three days training regarding capacity building on systematic review and use of evidence for health professionals working at the FMoH. Systematic review of relevant literature is the corner stone to promoting evidence based public health practices. The training was conducted in two rounds from March 24 to 26, 2016 and March 31 to April 02, 2016 at Addis Continental Institute of Public Health in Addis Ababa. Forty three experts who are working in the Maternal and Child Health Directorate of the FMoH participated in the training workshop. Most participants appreciated the need of improving skills and expressed their satisfaction with the training. It is believed that the training will contribute to the systematic use of evidences.
Addis Continental Institute of Public Health’s (ACIPH’s) Strengthening Malaria Monitoring and Evaluation System (SMMES) project in collaboration with Ethiopian Public Health Institute (EPHI) and Jima University’s Tropical and Infectious Diseases Research Center, organized the Seventh Malaria Research Network of Ethiopia Symposium on March 08 and 09, 2016.
The Symposium with the Theme of: “Defeat The Mosquito; Eliminate Malaria” was hosted by Jimma University and the financial support was obtained from USAID/PMI through ACIPH/SMMES Project.
Three current malaria affairs by Jima Zone malaria focal person and senior researchers and 14 malaria-related papers (mainly malaria vector related) by young and senior researchers were presented orally and three more papers were poster presentations. About 100 participants from FMoH, EPHI, different local universities, NGO’s and academia and students from Jima University attended the symposium. Sessions were chaired by senior researchers, and the meeting was officially opened by the vice president of the University. On the second day, there was a discussion on the by-law of the research network, and final comments were gathered from the participants on the by-law.
Overall, the symposium was a success, and the next symposium was agreed to be hosted by EPHI.
