Yemane Berhane (MD, MPH, PhD)

Professor of Epidemiology and Public Health


Prof. Yemane Berhane is a medical doctor (1987) and epidemiologist (2000). He has a wide range of research interests in public health including maternal/child health, infectious diseases and non-communicable diseases. He has published more than 280 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals. He pursued academic positions since 1992, first at Addis Ababa University and then in 2006 at Addis Continental Institute of Public Health in Ethiopia. Currently, his main engagement is expanding and improving graduate level research training and mentoring postdoctoral fellows. He is a Founding Fellow of the Ethiopian Academy of Sciences. He has served as President of the Ethiopian Public Health Association (1995-99); Associate Vice Present for Research and Graduate Studies at Addis Ababa University (2001-02); and since 2006 he is a senior professor and director of Addis Continental Institute of Public Health.
