Addis Continental Institute of Public Health in collaboration with the Ethiopian Society of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ESOG) has conducted a two-round Tailored Leadership Training. The first round of the training was conducted from Oct 30 -31, 2023 for ESOG leaders, Ob-Gyns from different hospitals, pharmacists, and members of the leadership executive office of the Ministry of Health. The second round of the training was provided from November 1 – 4, 2023 for different groups of healthcare professionals from three regions; St Paul Hospital Millennium Medical College and Marie Stopes International (Addis Ababa), Adare Hospital (Sidama Region), and Wolkite University Hospital (central Ethiopia Region). The groups were Hospital Chief Executive Officers of the hospitals, Ob-gyns, Pharmacists, midwives, and quality officers.

The leadership training was provided following the completion of the barrier assessment study which aimed to explore the barriers to the provision of clinical priority interventions to reduce Postpartum Hemorrhage (PPH) and neonatal mortality. As part of the training sessions, the groups exercised barrier prioritization exercises. Based on the prioritization exercise, each group has designed intervention strategies that will be implemented at each of the health facilities to address barriers in the uptake of clinical interventions primarily tranexamic acid and antenatal corticosteroid to reduce PPH and neonatal mortality.
