Project Summary (Objective & activities) 

The Strengthening Malaria Monitoring and Evaluation Systems (SMMES) of Ethiopia Program was funded by USAID/PMI to support the malaria control program of the Government of Ethiopia for the duration of eight years. The program mainly focuses in strengthening mechanisms providing the necessary evidences to monitor and evaluate the implementation and achievements of the malaria elimination program in Ethiopia .Addis Continental Institute of Public Health was the prime awardee and Tulane University in New Orleans, USA was a sub-awardee in implementing the program.The overall goal of the project was to strengthen the malaria surveillance, monitoring and evaluation system of Ethiopia by building the capacity of Ministry of Health, Ethiopian Public Health Institute, Armauer Hansen Research Institute and regional health offices in malaria surveillance, monitoring and evaluation including conducting surveys and operational research by providing hands on trainings to health care workers and program mangers working on malaria.
