The 11th malaria research network symposium has been colorfully conducted on December 17 – 18, 2019 at Debre Markos University (DMU). The theme of the symposium was: “Quality Anti-malaria Interventions: Key to Malaria Elimination!” The symposium was organized in collaboration with Ethiopian Pubic Health Institute (EPHI), US President’s Malaria Initiative (PMI) – Strengthening Malaria Monitoring and Evaluation Systems (SMMES) project/Addis Continental Institute of Public Health (ACIPH) and DMU. Senior and junior malaria research network members and invited guests from different Universities, research institutes, Regional Health Bureaus, and faculty and postgraduate students of DMU have participated in the symposium. The total number of participants is just more than 150. In addition to 14 oral and 10 poster presentations, a panel discussion was held to address the theme of the symposium. Thus, a brief presentation on the current situation, challenge and way forward of the malaria laboratory diagnosis, vector control and data quality were made by responsible experts in the field and the overall malaria control and elimination program quality is also presented by national malaria control and elimination program (NMCEP) delegate and was discussed. The aim of the panel discussion was to ignite further discussion on quality at different forum and has achieved its purpose. This year’s business meeting has focused on discussing the malaria research network of Ethiopia sub-committees and their terms of reference (ToR) were presented by the respective members of the sub-committees and endorsed by the general assembly after a thorough discussion. Finally, Jigjiga University was selected to host the 12th malaria research network symposium by the general assembly.
